You are not alone.
Taking Three Deep Breaths can help with a more conscious and constructive response. If you're grieving, we hope that the following words will help you to honor your experience and move through your emotions with compassion and care.
Gerritzen Meyer
Graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Gerritzen Meyer is an asset to The LOSS Team and speaks the truth about bereavement as a fundamental human experience, and it’s time we realized that children and young people are all too frequently exposed, unsupported, to the impact of grief.
“My father passed when I was a teenager leaving my mother with 5 children. I speak genuinely and from experience when I say I can understand that each circumstance is different, that’s why I’m here for the healing process, every step of the way.”
Support Groups: Why Should I?
Peer support groups, where you are joined by others who have lost a child to suicide, can be particularly helpful. “That shared sense of the journey you’re on is so reassuring, and those are the people who will remember and stand by you,”
Helping Children through Grief
When a loved one dies, children feel and show their grief in different ways. How kids cope with the loss depends on things like their age, how close they felt to the person who died, and the support they receive.

Life After Loss
You may hear people say, “take it one day at a time.” A more realistic statement may be, “take it one breath at a time” so be patient with yourself.
