Who we are.

Friends of Loss is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit volunteer-based organization that cultivates relationships to support survivors of tragic loss. We raise unrestricted funds through hosting outreach events and fundraising. All proceeds directly benefit survivors by providing educational curricula, books, and journals for weekly support groups, outreach and awareness booths, self-care kits, promotional items, website software, and much more. We provide Legacy Giving and Memorial Fund education, referrals, and resources throughout Geauga County.

How it all started…

Tracy Jordan is The Geauga County Sherriff’s Victim’s Advocate and recognized a gap in services when it came to those who had experienced death of a family member or friend. During the Chardon High School shooting in 2012, she responded and could not believe the horror and terror in the eyes that she had to help.

There had to be a way to continue supporting survivors because this was not natural. I wanted a place for survivors or loss to turn at any time because although there are stages, each person and their situation is unique and different than anyone else’s.

Tracy has been providing direct services to victims and survivors for (enter how many years). She developed a team of volunteers that are dispatched to the scene since (insert the date). Weekly support groups have been underway for over a year with waitlists for those who need the support. Outreach and follow-up services provide comfort and connection in an empathetic environment when the individuals and families need an outlet while funding is an issue.

What do we do?

We aim to utilize individual talents, creativity, and motivation to promote healing while raising funds for families in need of support during a difficult time. Friends of Loss is committed to hosting outreach and commuity events, fundraisers and virtual campaigns to achieve community togetherness.
